The Route to the Summit
I will be climbing Mt. Everest from both the South (Nepal) and the North (Tibet) sides.
South side climb:
Base Camp at the foot of the Khumbu Icefall-17,600 feet
Camp I above the Khumbu Icefall-19,500 feet
Camp II (Advance Base Camp) on the Western Cwm-21,300 feet
Camp III on the Lhotse Face-24,000 feet (supp. oxygen used above Camp III)
Camp IV on the South Col-26,000 feet (since Camp IV is in the “death zone,” this camp is a 6-8 hour rest stop on the way to the summit)
South Summit-28,750 feet
Hillary Step-28,900 feet
Summit-29,035 feet
North side climb:
Everest Base Camp-17,056 feet
Intermediate Base Camp-20,336 feet
Advance Base Camp-20,992 feet
Camp 1 on the North Col-23,616 feet
Camp 2-25,584
