Physical Training

I have been climbing the Eight Summits since 2002, and I am currently training for the 2012 Mt. Everest expedition. Thus, I have been in fairly continuous training for over 10 years. My current training regime includes workouts in the gym 4-5 times per week, trips to the local mountains and bicycling on weekends.

My workouts in the gym involve running on a treadmill and upper and lower body weight exercises. I am blessed to have an abundance of challenging mountains within driving distance, including Mt. Whitney (one of my favorite mountains in the world, which I have scaled 13 times--9 via the Mountaineer’s Route), San Gorgonio, San Antonio (Mt. Baldy) and San Jacinto. Bicycling is my favorite training exercise because I am joined by Oliver, my 11-year old year old disabled grandson, who rides with me in a trailer which I pull behind the bike.
