About Me
I am a 70-year old amateur mountaineer.
I have been married 50 years to Sharon, and
we have 4 children and 14 grandchildren. I
practiced corporate law for over 40 years
and now enjoy “semi-retirement.”
I started high altitude mountaineering after
reaching age 60 and have now climbed the
highest mountain on every continent. I
summited Mt. Everest on May 23, 2009,
becoming the oldest American to reach the
summit and return alive. I was 67 at the
time. I am the only person to
climb the highest mountain on every
continent, including the Carstensz Pyramid
in West Papua, New Guinea, after
reaching age 60.
I am blessed with a great
family. Sharon and I have been married 50 years. She is
the love of my life.

We have 4 wonderful children, a wonderful daughter in law and sons in law and 14 even more wonderful grandchildren.

Grandsons Mitch (quarterback), on the right, and Josh (wide receiver), on the left.
In 2010, they captured the league title for Corona Del Mar High School for the first time in 22 years.
Mitch graduated from high school and is now attending Chico State College. In 2011, the Corona Del Mar High School football team won the CIF State Football Championship. The championship game was a thrilling contest between CDM and Beckman. CDM won the game by the score of 14-13. My grandson, Josh, scored the winning touchdown on a 61-yard pass
reception from the quarterback, Brent Lawson. Josh was the league’s leading receiver for the season
and was named "All-CIF Wide Receiver". Below are photos of Josh catching the pass and entering the end zone in the championship game and the dream team celebrating after the hard-fought victory.
