Mt. Kosciuszko (7,310 feet)

Mt. Kosciuszko is the highest mountain in Australia, which some consider to be a continent.  Others claim that Australia is part of the larger continent of AustralAsia or Oceania.  I climbed Mt. Kosciuszko on May 6, 2006.  This mountain presents no real difficulties or challenges, at least when the weather cooperates, which (uncharacteristically) it did.  Located in Thredbo, a ski resort, the mountain can be accessed by taking a chair lift to a steel mesh walking platform that crosses a marshy bog, winding and wending its way to the summit.  All-in-all, a walk in the park.  I opted to climb to the walking platform rather than take the chair lift.  I was lucky to be in Thredbo for the annual jazz festival, which was the highlight of the trip.
